Taste it Tuesday~ Sour Cream Cherry Pie

Taste it Tuesday is a day where I share some of my favorite recipes and if I'm brave enough, I'll try some of the recipes I've found on other blogs. I have to admit that I'm really a throw everything in one pot kinda gal. I like recipes that are fast and easy. This also goes for desserts. About 5 years ago my mom came up with this delicious pie. She was looking for ways to cut calories from your regular Cherry Cheesecake. When she told me she used sour cream in it, I was skeptical to how good it would taste. One bite is all it took, and I've been hooked ever since! So ladies and maybe gents, here is the recipe for you to try for yourself.
Sour Cream Cherry Pie~
Here is a list of the ingredients you will need
Nilla Pie Crust
Cool Whip
Sour Cream
Can of Cherry Pie Filling
Vanilla Instant Pudding
Did you count that? Just 5 ingredients!
Get your mixing bowl out and pour in package of pudding

Next add sour cream, I didn't add all of the sour cream, probably 2/3 of it.

Next get out your trusty mixer and mix until fully blended. The mixture will be kinda thick and look like this.

Next add your cool whip. I added 3/4 of the container. The great thing about this pie is that it's easy to tweak to your liking. I like it more thick than not. Also, if you wanted to make this recipe with all sugar free or reduced fat products, it would turn out just as good.

When I add the cool whip, I fold it in with a spatula. It helps to keep the fluffiness of the cool whip.

Next fill the pie crust with your mixture.

Your almost done! Spoon on some cherries, as much or as little as you like. I added every cherry in the can:)

I know it will be hard to do but cover the pie and chill in the fridge for an hour or more. This helps it to firm up and gel all the yummy goodness together. If you wait till the morning the crust is softer. Some say they even like it better in the next day. With coffee you can't go wrong! I thought this would also make a cute Valentine's dessert.
ENJOY~ Jamie

Mention Me Monday

So, I'm loving this blog thing. I'm such a newby though! I have all these grand ideas of what I want to do and the direction I want to take this blog. Remember when I told you I have a ADHD mind. Well its in over drive right now. So I was hoping that by setting a day, for certain types of post, it would help me focus. There is no guarantee that these will last but hopefully they become a fun addition to my blogging frenzy. First up: Mention Me Monday~ Now the title is a little misleading because its not really about me. It's about the blogger I'm mentioning. This is a day where I get to mention a post from another blogger. This will be something that motives me, inspires me or just something that I like. Eventually, I "HOPE" that I will be mentioned on someones else's blog but for now It's all about you my blog buddies!:) So today... drum roll please! I'm mentioning Becky from Organizing Made Fun. http://organizingmadefun.blogspot.com/
One of my New Years Resolutions was to get organized. Ok, so get this!
1.I'm a perfectionist, which makes it difficult to give anything a go because nothing I do turns out perfectly.
2. I'm a over achiever which makes me want to try to do everything!
3. I get so overwhelmed with things I want to accomplish that they just get stuck in the to do list.
So, Miss Becky has come to my rescue! Her latest post really hit home. She states that organizing takes practice. I'd like to add to that and say it takes PATIENCE as well. I can't get every room into shape in one day. But I can do one drawer at a time. I'm going to follow her steps to getting myself into organized shape. She adds that
Something I need to remember!!!
So let's hop over to her blog and check out all of the awesome advice she has for getting your home into a organized palace. I'll be working, or should I say "practicing" on the things she has blog about today. My timer is already set for 15 minutes and I have a drawer waiting. I better get to it!
Thanks Becky! I needed your help! Jamie

On Being Different

Confession:

Being different is one of the hardest lessons and most rewarding lessons I've had to learn. As a kid, I was learning to be just like my parents. As a teen I was trying to fit into a mold that was excepting. All for not! Being me was not exceptable! I was tall, chubby and had curly frizzy hair. I didn't have the best clothes, or dress the newest style trend. I wasn't like the rest, I WAS DIFFERENT................ By the time I was a young adult, I had tried to erase every last part of different in me. I remember someone asking me what my favorite color was. Uh, I dont know, let me think about it, I replied. All the while waiting for them to share their's so I could agree that "yep" that was mine too. This has been a huge struggle for me. Every decision I make, is clouded by, will someone else like it or I think I need someone else's expertise because what I like isn't good enough or pretty. I realize the obserity in this, that's why I'm sharing it! I want you, and you, and ME to be okay with being different. I want us to love ourselves for our uniqueness. Now I'm not saying that we can't like other people's talents and try to immulate them in our own lives. I'm talking about second guessing everything about yourself, because you don't know who you are or what you like. Because somewhere in side, you've told yourself you're not worthy of an opinion. You're not allowed to like what you like. You're not good enough. So, I'm putting this out there and I'm screaming it from the top of my lungs! It's ok to be different! It's ok to be unique! It's ok to be YOU! Besides you're more beautiful when you are authentic! I'm finding that different is interesting, and attractive. Being uniquely myself is exactly what I was made to be. God makes every person unique unto themselves, even down to a fingerprint. Those little lines on your finger are a fraction off from mine. Isn't that cool!
In closing, I can't tell you how it makes me feel, when someone out in this big o world, who doesn't even know me, leaves a comment about what I'm doing or saying on this blog. It's just one more indication that I am ok being exactly who I am. Frizzy hair in all:) And thank you, to all the blogger ladies who share their stories and lives with us. It a beautiful thing to stop by and see YOU and all your uniqueness coming out! :) Jamie

How To Wake Up The Vintage Babe In You~

Hey Ladies! It's Friday, and we still have one more long weekend before we have to get back into the swing of things. Ok, I admit it, I have been rather lazy but I refused to stay in my pj's today. It's been vintage dress day around here. Oh, how I long to be a vintage beauty!

I absolutely love vintage clothes! They are pieces of history displayed as art on the body. I have worn many styles of dresses in my days, but nothing compares to my vintage dresses in design, quality and beauty. So, I enlisted my hubby to take some fun photos of me in my vintage attire. Here are a few of his favorite pics. :)

Recently I stumbled upon a ebook that blew my mind. This book has all the info you need to dress like a vintage beauty. Click Here!

If only I would have had this book when I started my vintage clothing search. Oh, and did I mention its a ebook. How awesome is that! Between my iPhone and iPad I'll always have it at the push of a button. Gotta love technology!
So what are you waiting for? Go get the book, bring out the babe and have a vintage dress kind of day! Jamie

Resolution~ 2012

Okay party people~ It's time to start thinking about what you want 2012 to be like. What you resolute to do and not to do. I have so many things on the list this year its hard to put them into words. It's like trying to catch a lizard and just when you think you've caught him by the tail, it falls off. But I'll start with what I know for sure that I wish for 2012~
1~ To BE HAPPY and have overflowing joy in my life!
2~ To find the blessings in the little things and enjoy it!
3~ To slow down in trivial stuff and speeding up in the important!
4~ To feel alive, present, not a walking, talking, auto-mode machine!
5~ To get organized!
6~ To be creative and not worry if someone else likes it~ Do I like it?
7~ To cook like a pro (chopped style) and even if it doesn't taste good I enjoyed making it!
8~ To enjoy caring for my yard. Cutting and pruning till I live in a secret garden!
9~ To take pictures of everything and everyone. People won't recognize me without the camera!
10~ To embrace the face, the body, the real me and be okay!
11~ To laugh a lot! Pee your pants kinda laugh! Everyday!
12~ To be passionate and compassionate!
13~ To remember life is short every time I look at my children!
14~ To love my husband more and more. After all he is 2nd to God.
15~ To let go of the past. It will not define me or confine me any longer!
16~ To get organized!!! Yes it's worth repeating!
17~ To simplify! Clutter has to go.
18~ To live healthy! Better eating and exercise plan.
19~ To stop striving for empty and meaningless things! Goodbye Credit Cards!
20~ To look up, breathe in and shout out, I am blessed and believe it! Everything is not perfect nor does it have to be. Jamie, you do not have to be perfect (internal pep talk)! Enjoy life, focus on the beauty in things, give up the mask, walk with confidence and be patient! Life is good! Does your attitude know that? If it doesn't change it!

Ok ,so there it is. Well at least 1% of it. I better go get started on one of these. I think it will be organizing the pantry today. Be Blessed! Jamie
